CRYSTAL DECANTER

Glass decanters were first used by the Romans. Wine was poured from a large amphora into decanters and then the decanter was placed on the dining table. The smaller size of the decanter allowed the servants to serve the wine easily. After the Roman Empire fell, the use of glass decanters came to a halt and was replaced by decanters made of earthenware and other metals like gold, silver and bronze. The use of glass decanters was revived during the Renaissance period.

Glass is one of the easiest things to make and like its other so many uses, it is extensively used to make decanters. The prime objective of a glass decanter is to decant the wine and separate the liquid from the sediments that are contained in the wine. When wine is poured from a bottle to a glass decanter, the majority of the liquid goes into the decanter and the smaller part of the liquid that contains the sediments is left behind. A glass decanter comes with a lid that helps preserve the taste and aroma of the wine contained inside it.
